Materials Receiving Assistant

Education and Work Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge and experience of materials management

Required Skills:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized
  • Effective communication through verbal, written, and electronic formats
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous working relationship with other employees and with clients and visitors
  • Ability to maintain a clean, well-organized work environment and a professional personal appearance and attitude while on the job
  • Effective time management and punctuality required
  • Must be willing to be trained at other positions, if needed
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license

Job Duties: Will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Report to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor
  • Adhere to all active confidentiality agreements and other contracts, both internally and with clients
  • Assist in shipping, receiving, storing, inventorying, and delivering of materials, supplies, tools, and parts throughout the facility
  • Create, verify, and keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Keep the shipping and receiving bays and material storage areas clean and organized
  • Ensure that all products are shipped and stored with legally-compliant containers and methods
  • Operate a forklift or other materials handling devices
  • Operate a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver materials, equipment, and other supplies, as needed
  • Assist other departments and staff with shipping and receiving requests, as needed
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor or his appointed representative

Physical Demands: As necessary to carry out essential duties and responsibilities, requiring:

  • Lifting and/or handling of boxes and/or equipment with the ability to use both hands
  • Ability to stand or sit for long hours in hot and cold environments, including outdoors
  • Ability to drive vehicles and other equipment, including forklifts
  • Reaching overhead, stooping, kneeling, walking, talking, hearing, reading and seeing

Hours: 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; must be able to work on short notice and work extra hours, including weekends, if needed
