The seminar is currently scheduled to be a two-and-a-half-day event and will present a general overview of granulation, drying, cooling, and coating in fluid beds, pans, and rotary drums. The program will present the basic principles of equipment design, agglomeration, air flow, pressure drop, particulate entrainment, dust collection, and nozzle configurations. It will also address the design and plant operation of fluid fertilizers. Each principle will be discussed in theory and demonstrated, where possible, in ACT’s laboratories and pilot plants. During demonstrations, the participants will obtain hands-on experience with ACT’s equipment.
Current Schedule Topics Include:
- Physical Properties of Materials
- Principles of Fluidization
- Design Criteria for Fluid Beds
- Fluid-Bed Heating and Cooling
- Fluid-Bed Drying
- Fluid-Bed Agglomeration
- Fluid-Bed Coating
- Design and Operation of Pan and Rotary Drum Granulation
- Rotary Drum Dryer and Rotary Drum Process Cooler Case Study
- MAP/DAP Granulation using a Pre-neutralizer or a Pipe-Cross Reactor
- Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) Design and Operation
- Aqua Ammonia Design and Operation
- Process Automation
