Industrial Controls Engineer

 Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Industrial or Controls Engineering
  • 5+ years experience programming PLCs using Ladder Logic and Function Block and be familiar with various PLC brands such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.
  • 5+ years experience designing process controls systems
  • 3+ years experience with HMI and SCADA systems such as Factory Talk, PanelView, Wonderware, etc.
  • Mechanical Design and Troubleshooting experience a plus

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to travel when needed, including international travel (not full-time travel)
  • Ability to design process electrical control circuits following NEC and UL508 guidelines
  • Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot electrical controls and instrumentation
  • Understanding of industrial controls network protocols
  • Possess a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment and have the ability to use that understanding to troubleshoot systems
  • Ability to understand automated equipment functions; chemical processes; and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to build electrical panels
  • Ability to program HMI graphic interfaces employing situational awareness philosophy a plus
  • Knowledge of and ability to use AutoCAD and other design software to produce electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office software, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to maintain a clean work environment
  • Ability to maintain an effective, courteous, and tactful relationship with other employees and clients
  • Must be on time and have a good attitude at work
  • Willingness to be assume other job duties as necessary to complete projects

Job Duties: Will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Report to assigned supervisor
  • Respect and adhere to all active contracts and confidentiality agreements with Applied Chemical Technology and associated clients
  • Respect and adhere to all safety rules procedures, and complete all necessary safety training
  • Work with project managers to assess client needs related to automation
  • Assist project managers in preparation of project bids and cost estimation
  • Provide engineering input to projects as required
  • Design control panels/systems to meet project requirements
  • Generate AutoCAD drawings/schematics for control system design
  • Build Electrical panels according to electrical schematics
  • Specify, purchase, and receive materials for control system fabrication
  • Provide written and verbal direction to ensure efficient completion of projects
  • Report project status to project managers as necessary
  • Work with project managers and accounting personnel to accurately document project costs
  • Perform other functions in the Automation Department as requested

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Coordinate the use of both hands to perform tasks
  • Lifting and handling equipment and materials of up to 50lbs
  • Reaching overhead, stooping, kneeling, walking, talking, hearing, reading and seeing.

Hours:           8-5 Monday-Friday; must be able to work overtime, including weekends, as needed
