Senior Process Engineer

Education and Work Experience:

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of knowledge and experience with process and product design and development, safety enhancements, commissioning and start-up services, cost estimation and control, plant construction, and project management in the field of Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in chemical processing, specialty chemicals, and fertilizer, helpful

Required Skills:

  • Have or willing to obtain a Professional Engineering license
  • Effective communication through verbal, written, and electronic formats
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and tactful working relationship with other employees and with clients and visitors
  • Ability to maintain a clean work environment and a professional appearance while on the job
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized

Job Duties: Will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Report to the Director of Process Engineering
  • Respect and adhere to all active contracts and confidentiality agreements with Applied Chemical Technology and associated clients
  • Evaluate raw materials, processes, and products
  • Ensure that equipment operates within its specification and capacities
  • Manage projects, including process design and development, construction, installation, operation, and supervision
  • Cost control to meet deadlines and perform work within financial budgets
  • Design all levels of process development, including lab-scale testing, pilot plant scale, and full-scale plants
  • Collect data required to make improvements and/or process modifications
  • Oversee and/or troubleshoot plant/process problems and plant expansion
  • Work with clients and other staff to evaluate and supply the clients’ needs
  • Travel, including international travel, as needed

Physical Demands:  As necessary to carry out essential duties and responsibilities, requiring:

  • Coordinate the use of both hands to perform tasks
  • Ability to stand for long hours on plant floor during pilot plant runs and full-scale plant start-ups
  • Lifting and handling of boxes and other equipment of 50lbs
  • Reaching overhead, stooping, kneeling, walking, talking, hearing, reading and seeing

Hours:          40 hrs/week; must be able to work on short notice and work extra hours, including weekends, if needed.
